France: More Jews Have Joined ISIS     The official said French Interior Ministry intelligence shows there are people "of Jewish extraction," some of whom converted to Islam, among those who joined the Islamic terrorist group. The shocking revelation comes days after reports surfaced that a French Jewish teenager was among the approximately 100 young women who have left France to join ISIS in Syria during the past year and a half. Meyer Habib, a Jewish member of the French parliament, claimed, there is no official proof they actually joined IS. If a Jewish girl did join the Islamic State, "it really is the end of the world" and complicates matters, Habib told Channel 2, according to Haaretz. "It is inconceivable that this would happen," a French Rabbi was quoted by Channel 2. "There are many rumors swirling and we hope an official source will update us. Some say the Jewish girl converted, and that is also disconcerting."

Pakistani jets hit militant hideouts, killing 21   The "precise" strikes were carried out in the Tirah valley in Khyber tribal region, a military statement said. It provided no further details and only said the strikes "killed 21 terrorists." There was no way to independently confirm the claim. Pakistan's tribal areas are off limits to journalists. Pakistan's air force often targets suspected militants and their hideouts in Khyber, and elsewhere in the country's northwest. The region is believed to be a hiding place for Pakistani Taliban and foreign militants. The latest strikes came a day after a suicide bomber targeted a meeting of anti-Taliban elders in the Khyber region, killing five people. Since June 15, Pakistan's army has also been carrying out a major operation against Pakistani Taliban and al-Qaida in the North Waziristan tribal region, to the south of Khyber. It has killed over 1,100 militants in the region, which was once a base for local and foreign militants blamed for acts of terrorism in Pakistan and neighboring Afghanistan. The Pakistani Taliban are a loose network of militant groups. Thousands of Pakistanis have died in their war aimed at overthrowing the elected government and enforcing their own harsh brand of Islamic Shariah law. North Waziristan was home to a mix of local and foreign militant groups until the military launched its operation there following a deadly militant attack on the country's busiest airport in Karachi. The military says it has cleared 90 percent of North Waziristan during the operation, which displaced over 800,000 residents. Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday visited the headquarters of the Pakistan Air Force in the capital, Islamabad. During a meeting with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, the prime minister praised role of the air force in the ongoing operation in North Waziristan, a military statement said.

At least 47 killed in attacks in and around Baghdad

Bombing and a mortar strike in Shi'ite Muslim parts of Baghdad and in the rural belt south of the capital killed at least 47 people on Thursday and wounded 123, police and medical officials said. An Iraqi Shi'ite political figure said the assaults, part of a surge of violence in Shi'ite neighbourhoods in recent weeks, were revenge attacks by the Sunni Muslim militant group Islamic State, which has seized control of much of northern Iraq. The al Qaeda offshoot has been battling Shi'ite militias and soldiers loyal to Iraq's Shi'ite-led government as it attempts to establish a caliphate straddling Iraq and neighbouring Syria, where it has also captured swathes of territory. A suicide car bomb hit an army checkpoint near a restaurant in Baghdad's northern district of Talibiya at 2:30 p.m. (1130 GMT), killing nine people, officials said. Forty-five minutes later, a pair of car bombs exploded in the district of al-Dawlai in western Baghdad, killing 16 people and wounding 35.

Islamic scholar urges support for king's call against terrorism

A renowned Islamic scholar has extended his full support to the call of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to crush terrorism using every means possible. "Neither Islam nor any other religion supports killing or disrupting peace and stability among nations," said Sheikh Abubakar Ahmed, general-secretary of the All India Sunni Jamiyyathul Ulama, during a recent press conference in Makkah.
Abubakar also urged world leaders, Islamic scholars and community members all over the world to unanimously back King Abdullah's strong commitment in uprooting divisive plots.
Abubakar was speaking with Indian Haj volunteers in Makkah upon the conclusion of Haj rituals.
"The word 'Islam' itself means peace. This is why not a single member of our community supports extremism," he said.
The recent statement made by the scholar condemning notorious Islamic State (IS) atrocities in Iraq and Syria was welcomed humanitarian groups and conveyed by world media.
"Indian Muslims do not need the help of external powers for their safety," he said.
"The Indian constitution and judiciary gives them security irrespective of the ruling government. I was the first person to speak against Al-Qaeda's plans to enter India and won full support for my calls."
"Youth should use their time and wealth to care for the needy instead of indulging in crime and terrorism," he said. Abubakar also alluded to his organization's initiatives and financial aid to help flood-hit victims in Kashmir.
"A medical team, including doctors, will leave for Kashmir very soon," he added.
The reconstruction of the flood hit-houses, mosques and educational institutions will be undertaken during the subsequent phase.
He also added that Jamia Markaz will celebrate its 37th anniversary on Dec. 18, 19, 20 and 21 at its headquarters in Calicut.
Many dignitaries from India and abroad are slated to attend the conference.
Markaz Director Abdul Hakeem Azhari, Jeddah Islamic Cultural Foundation (ICF) General-Secretary Ahmad Malahiri, Secretary Mujeeb A.R. Nagar and Markaz Jeddah Committee Secretary Bava Koomanna were also present in the press meeting.

UP TO 30 UK JIHADISTS KILLED IN SYRIA The International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR), which monitors the activities of British extremists on social media, says that it is aware of at least 24 deaths. However, senior researcher Shiraz Maher said that due to difficulties obtaining information, the real number is "almost certainly higher".
The Telegraph reports that among those who have died is Ifthekar Jaman, who was 23 at the time of his death and had described his experience in Syria as "five-star jihad". His parents were arrested on Tuesday as part of coordinated raids by anti-terror police in London and Hampshire, and later bailed.
Others who have died include Abdullah Deghayes, whose father described him as a martyr and said that his two other sons were also out in Syria fighting jihad.

Shia rebels and suspected Sunni al-Qaeda militants have been engaged in heavy fighting in southern Yemen. Security officials and tribal sources said at least 10 people were killed in clashes around the town of Radaa in Bayda province . Al-Qaeda vowed to confront the rebels, known as Houthis, after their takeover in the capital, Sanaa, last month. They have since sought to expand the territory under their control, and took the Red Sea port of Hodeida . The move came as President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi named a new prime minister after securing the backing of the rebels and their main opponents, Sunni Islamist and tribal fighters loyal to the Islah party. Under the deal brokered by the United Nations after the Houthis swept through Sanaa, Mr Hadi agreed to reverse the unpopular fuel subsidy cuts he introduced in July, form a new "technocratic national government", and appoint advisers nominated by the rebels. The clashes around Radaa erupted after Houthi fighters attempted to take control of areas surrounding the town. Dozens of families were forced to flee the violence. Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has vowed to fight the Houthis in defence of Sunnis and last week it said it was behind a suicide bomb attack on a rally by Houthi supporters in Sanaa that killed 47 people. the rebels were reported to have sent fighters towards the city of Ibb, a bastion of the jihadist group and its allies 150 km (90 miles) south of the capital.

Nigerian troops killed 74 members of Boko Haram in an air and ground assault, the military said a further sign of stepped up operations against the Islamist sect, Reuters reported. The offensive targeted Boko Haram camps in the remote villages of Galangi and Lawanti in northeast Borno state where the militants have their strongest presence. "The operation, which involved ground and aerial assault supported by the Nigerian Air Force led to the destruction of the identified terrorist camps, killing 74 terrorists while others fled with serious injuries," Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Dole said in a statement. Dole said two soldiers were wounded. The Nigerian military has in the past played down its own losses and those of civilians, security experts say. The army said it had killed 37 Islamists in a similar strike last week in another remote area of Borno. Nigerian forces have intensified attacks against Boko Haram since May, when President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in three states in the northeast. Boko Haram is fighting to establish an Islamic state in religiously mixed Nigeria. While the offensive against it appears to have scattered the movement, it has also seen reprisal attacks against civilians suspected of cooperating with the authorities. Thousands have been killed since the sect launched its uprising against the state in 2009, turning itself from a clerical movement opposed to Western culture into an armed militia with links to al Qaeda's West African wing. The group is seen as the biggest security threat to Africa's top oil producer. Although their activities are located hundreds of miles away from its southern oil fields, they have bombed the capital Abuja at least three times, including a deadly attack on the United Nations' Nigeria headquarters in 2011.

U.S. strike kills senior figure in Al-Qaeda India branch: report

U.S. drone strikes killed eight suspected militants in Pakistan including Sheikh Imran Ali Siddiqi, a senior figure of the newly created Indian branch of Al-Qaeda, Pakistan's The Express Tribune reported. The daily quoted tribal sources as saying one drone had struck a compound in Chancharano Kandaw of Tirah Valley, in the northeastern Khyber Agency. The attack damaged several portions of the compound and left at least four dead and wounded two others, the daily said. Siddiqi, who last month was announced as a senior member of Al-Qaeda's newly formed branch in the Indian subcontinent, was reportedly among the dead, the newspaper said. The branch's purported spokesperson, Osama Mehmood, also confirmed the death, the daily said. A second U.S. drone strike in the North Waziristan killed four suspected militants, including an important Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP; Pakistani Taliban) commander, the daily said. It quoted an official as saying the U.S. drones had fired two missiles at a vehicle in the Margha area of Shawal which burst into flames. Four suspected militants in the car were killed while another was wounded, the official said. The official named Muhammad Mustafa, a TTP commander, as among the dead. The others were foreigners, the official said.

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham in a statement on strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Iraq, which led to the martyrdom of Iraqi lawmaker Ahmed al-Khafaji and a number of innocent people.
She also extended Iran's condolences to the Iraqi nation and government.
The Iranian spokeswoman described serious efforts to counter terrorism as "a regional necessity".
The deadly suicide bomb attack occurred at a checkpoint in Baghdad's Shiite neighborhood of Kadhimiya. At least 25 people were killed and more than 50 others suffered injuries in the attack.
Police and medics said Ahmed al-Khafaji, a member of the Shiite Badr political party and a former deputy interior minister, was among the dead in the blast. Five police officers were also killed, police and medical officials said.
Iraq has been witnessing deadly bombings over the past few days.
Earlier on Saturday night, at least 50 people were killed and scores more wounded in a series of bombings in Baghdad.
At least 38 people were killed in two car bombings in western Baghdad. A third blast caused by a suicide bomber killed another 12 people and injured 40 others.

a suicide bomber detonated a belt packed with explosives at a Houthi checkpoint in the centre of the capital Sana'a where Houthi supporters were preparing to hold a rally. Body parts were scattered across Tahrir Square and pools of blood formed on the asphalt after the blast, which also wounded at least 75 people. The bomb attack was carried out by a man called Abu Mouwaia Al Sanaani, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Yemeni branch of the movement, said in a statement on its Twitter account. Thursday's bombing occurred just hours after a showdown between the Houthis and President Abd-Rabbu Mansour forced Prime Minister-designate Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, whose appointment on Tuesday under a power-sharing deal signed last month had angered Houthi leaders, to turn down the post. The Houthis have emerged as Yemen's main power brokers since their paramilitary forces seized the capital on Septemebr 21, following weeks of anti-government demonstrations. AQAP, which has targeted state institutions, including the armed forces, sees the Houthis, who are members of the minority Zaydi sect of Shi'ite Islam, as heretics. A southern secessionist movement and the AQAP onslaught on security forces has already stretched the resources of Yemen, an impoverished country of 25 million, and alarmed neighbouring Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter, and other Gulf Arab states. Western and Gulf Arab countries are worried that instability in Yemen could strengthen Al Qaeda and have supported a UN-backed political transition since 2012 led by Hadi meant to shepherd the country to stability after decades of autocracy.

What makes ISIS tick?   From the use of suicide car bombs against enemy front lines to slaughtering prisoners of war to frighten opponents, Islamic State militants have proven brutally effective on the battlefield. Many militant groups use suicide bombers, from Al-Qaeda to the Taliban. But none uses them with such frequency on the battlefield as Islamic State. "They have an abundance of fighters willing to commit suicide," says Riad Kahwaji of the Institute for Near East and Gulf Military Analysis in Beirut. IS fighters use suicide car bombs like guided missiles when they attack an enemy front line, especially in urban combat. They then follow up the massive explosion with human wave attacks to overrun enemy positions. "It is like the [international coalition] planes launching smart missiles. But the difference here is that there is more precision and also the shock element is bigger," Kahwaji notes. "It implants fear in the hearts of their adversaries." Kahwaji says new recruits are carefully sorted by their minders according to their ideological commitment and psychological state and then used accordingly. "It seems they have their own system where they evaluate these fighters and see who is more extreme and willing to commit suicide and they are prepared for their missions and used when the need comes," he says.
